Software to Install and Mapping NAS (Optional)

Go to https://ninite.com/

and download software that you might need.

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • qBittorent
  • 7-Zip (This is better than WinRar)
  • Discord
  • VLC (Video player)
  • foobar2000 (Music Player)
  • CCCP (Media Player Classic with Codecs.... Kind of like VLC)
  • Classic Start ( Windows Start Button)
  • Notepad++ (Better notepad)
  • SumatraPDF (lightweight PDF reader)
  • FoxIt Reader (PDF reader with more features)
  • TeamViewer 14 (Remote Control Software For When You Need Help from IT people)

Other Software you might want to install.

  • Greenshot (Screenshot software)
  • ShareX (Screenshot + Screen recorder software)
  • ublock origin (best adblocker for both browsers)

Making Windows 10 like Windows 7 (Optional)

  • Launch explorer.
  • Go To View -> Options -> Change folder and search options
  • Click view tab on the new window. Scroll all the way down.
  • Check the 4 boxes under Navigation pane.

  • Go to your Desktop and right click on Recycle Bin and click properties. Check display delete confirmation dialog.

  • Go to Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Uncheck Enhance pointer precision

Setting Default Programs (Optional)

Run SumatraPDF. Do this.

Then Click:

Go To "PC Settings" Search for "default apps", and choose your preferred default apps.

NAS Mounting (Optional)

  • Launch explorer.
  • Right click on This PC -> Map network drive...
  • Type in
\\192.168.88.201\homes\
  • Check. Connect using different credentials then click Finish.
  • Check "Remember my credentials"
  • Username is : dao
  • Password is: you already know it
  • Repeat the process for 2ndHDD
\\192.168.88.201\2ndHDD\
